Police officers from Kahawa West police post are on the spot for beating a man and breaking his nose on Tuesday night while they were enforcing a curfew.
Samuel Waitherero was attacked by Police officers few meters from the police post on his way home at 7.30 pm.
He is a barber in Kahawa West.
Waitherero’s phone was off by the time of going to press.
Residents led by businessman John Kerongwe condemned the police brutality.
“The officers should be punished. Injuring a young man on his way home was beyond the National Police Service mandate.” he told Hot News.
He said police should enforce the law within the law.
Waitherero’s friends who sought anonymity said the barber was attacked by two policemen.
They are demanding thorough investigations to bring the culprits to book.
Efforts to get comments from Kasarani Subcounty police boss Múthuri Mwongera were futile.
He did not respond to calls and text messages send to his phone.
Local politician Kamuna Wa Wanjiku took to his Facebook to condemn the police.
“It is impossible for you to be a police officer, a prosecutor and a judge simultaneously.” he wrote.
