Newly sworn in Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu faces a “rough ride” at City Hall.
This is after a section of MCAs said they are opposed to the extension of NMS term.
They called on Kananu not to extend the NMS terms.
Others said Kananu has been brought on board to protect the NMS and that -that was the main reason she was sworn into office.
However, others led by MCA Abdi Guyo reportedly want NMS to continue.
The NMS term comes to an end in March next year.
Riruta Ward Rep James Kiriba tabled a motion last month to initiate the process to kick out NMS but the Majority party in the Assembly distanced itself from the motion.
The motion was withdrawn and Kiriba bundled out of all committees.
The is not enjoying any allowances.
Hospital Ward MCA Patrick Musili said they should not extend the contract.
Speaking after the inauguration of the just sworn in Governor Kananu, Musili congratulated and urged her to diligently serve City residents.
“We as Nairobi MCAs are ready to work with Governor Kananu and fully support her. Initially Kananu was in an acting capacity as a Governor with less powers. We now expect her to appoint her deputy and the cabinet she can work comfortably with as the cabinet stands dissolved,” said Musili.
Musili said he is seeking to deputize Margaret Wanjiru in the Nairobi Gubernatorial race.
He is allied to DP William Ruto’s UDA.
