The Kiambu County Government has notified its staff to work from home starting Monday, March 23 except those working in key departments.
County Secretary and Head of Public Service Martin Njogu said through a notice seen by Hot News dated March 19,2020 addressed to all staff.
He said staff under Health Services, Water, Environment, Energy and Natural resources including water companies will continue reporting to work.
Others include Roads, Transport, Public Works and utilities, Finance and Economic Planning as well as Agriculture Departments.
Senior officials including County Executive Committee Members, Chief Officers and Directors are required to start WhatsApp groups to facilitate communication with employees.
Staff members may be called to report to work on need basis.
Njogu said this was in line with President Uhuru’s directives issued after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Uhuru ordered closure of all learning institutions and suspension of flights from Countries affected by the virus.
Njogu also served in the same position under former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu.
“I wish to remind you that your Health and survival is your primary responsibility. We urge every person to observe guidelines issued for your own security.” Reads the statement which has been copied to Kiambu Governor James Nyoro.
