The Kibra by- election has attracted many candidates.
A total of 23 candidates have been cleared by the IEBC and they all hope to replace the late Ken Okoth.
The New Democrats Party (TND) has cleared Abdul Kassim.
Kassim hails from the famous Nubian community and has been defined by many as a man of dignified personality.
Born and raised in Kibera, Kassim has several projects he has been carrying out especially working with schools (Kibera Girls Soccer Academy and the Academic school of Kibera).
Kassim told Hot News that in 2006, he ran a soccer team.
He said after a few months, he noticed that so many young women after reaching adolescent stage discontinue with trainings.
Kasim said he latter started Kibera Girls Soccer a sort of informal school to be able to keep the girls occupied and also gave them knowledge to be self-reliant.
TND chairman Gakuu Mathenge said he is optimistic the party will win the Kibra seat.
“We are joining the race to win. Kasim has lived in Kibra all his life and he knows and understands the problems facing the residents of Kibra. He is the only one who can serve the people of Kibra better,” Gakuu said.
On his part, Kassim said he was happy he had been nominated by the Party.
He called on his supporters to turn out in large numbers on the voting day.
“Let’s show the world that we are not children of a lesser God. Let’s tun the tables by winning this seat and defeating the perceived strong parties,” he said.
