A man Ernest Ngedi who works at the Juja Subcounty offices as a registrar of persons was arrested on Tuesday for conning a woman purporting, he was able to facilitate issuance of an ID card.
The man was taken to Juja Police station and incident booked under OB number 33/30/11/2021.
The woman who requested anonymity, said she had changed her names and followed due process.
However, when she visited the Sub County offices, Ngedi promised to help her by fast tracking the process.
Ngedi then asked for a facilitation fee of shs 15,000 which he was given.
“I was to fly out of the Country last month and join my family abroad. However, Ngedi was not responding. He declined to pick my calls and was not communicating” the woman said.
She added that she was forced to cancel her flight twice and has incurred huge loses.
Due to failure to respond, the woman was forced to report Ngedi to the police who visited the Registrar of Persons offices and arrested him.
