Mihang’o MCA Paul Kados has condemned Kenya Power for demolishing resident’s houses in Mihango and Nyama Villa estates.
Speaking to Hot News, Kados said it’s unfair to demolish the houses yet the residents had consulted the Kenya Power before putting up structures.
He said several residents were told by Kenya Power that they are away from the Power lines and that their houses won’t be demolished.
He added that some people took loans to put up the houses and it’s unfair to them.
Kados said he will seek Governor Sonkos help.
Enock Oyaro, a resident said the demolition has affected learning activities since some schools and churches used as nursery schools were demolished.
“My child is not going back to school. His school was demolished and it’s now a field where street urchins are sleeping. They have stored scrap metal there,” he said.
Last week, Governor Mike Sonko stopped all demolitions of houses in Nairobi.
He said that as the co-chair of the Nairobi regeneration committee, he had ordered all illegal demolitions.
Sonko took a swipe at Kenya Power for what he termed its “inhumane acts”.
