Mike Gumo popularly known as “Mayo” has officially declared he will be contesting for the Westlands MP seat in 2022.
The Young politician is seeking to be the ODM flag bearer.
Mike, a younger son to former Minister and long serving Westlands MP Fred Gumo he has been involved in Westlands politics since his childhood.
He has participated in many programs that were meant to empower the youth and women.
In 2017, he vied for the Parklands MCA seat and narrowly lost to Jayendra Malde of Jubilee.
Twice, he had been declared the ODM flag bearer but was denied the ticket.
The ticket was handed to Jaffer Kassam.
Kassam died in mid-2020.
Mike then ran as an independent candidate.
The young Gumo said the current Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has done a splendid job especially in the education sector, security, and efficient use of the CDF funds.
Gumo is currently on a meet the people tour in Westlands to understand their challenges.
He promised to serve the people diligently.
Gumo has worked in the Banking and Finance sector for over 5 years both abroad and with Ecobank Kenya.
He also has 2 years’ experience in the mining sector where he worked in Kilifi.
The politician also imports vehicles and owns several yards in Westlands, Nairobi.
