Those who applied for bursaries from the County Government of Nairobi will receive them next week.
However, parents and students will not receive cheques but the funds will be channeled directly to their school accounts.
In April, while announcing that at least shs 100 million had been released for bursaries, Governor Mike Sonko said the bursaries will be disbursed electronically to curb theft.
However, there was a delay after the controller of budget failed to relese the funds on time.
On Friday, Governor Mike Sonko said in collaboration with the Budget Committee, City Hall had reached an agreement with the Controller of Budget over release of the delayed Bursary Funds.
“Schools to access funds in the schools’ accounts through electronic funds transfer in a week’s time,” Sonko said.
Last week, MCA’s made good their threat and skipped the plenary sessions citing the delay.
