Residents of Nairobi want ODM to revoke the nomination of Husni Mohamed Alawi who was nominated to represent the disabled at the Nairobi City County Assembly.
Under the umbrella of Nairobi City County Disabled Persons Organization, the residents have accused the MCA of abdicating his role.
The organization which brings together more than 700 disabled people claim that Mr Husni is never available to advance their interests both at the Assembly and at City Hall.
They claim that efforts to meet the MCA have been futile and that he does not care about their well being.
“We have tried so much to know who this man is but our efforts have always hit a brick wall,” said Mr Jacob Musango the chairman of disabled people in Nairobi County.
They also want to ascertain whether Husni is indeed disabled or not so that they can find the right way to work with him.
“We also want to know if he is in the same situation like us. You can’t fully represent the interests of the disabled if you are not going through the hardships we endure. We really have it rough accessing services in offices,” said Gilbert Ogonda the disabled representative from Mathare North.
This year, Husni, who hails from the coast has missed most of the plenary sittings and hardly appears in Committee sessions.
Husni is the only male nominated MCA at the Nairobi City County Assembly.
The rest are women.
When reached for comment, Husni’s did not answer his calls.
