The Headteacher of Nairobi Primary School Munyao Mbondo has been accused of running down the school.
Several parents and teachers at the school said the learning and living conditions at the school have gone from bad to worse since he arrived.
“Recently, he held a staff meeting during which he is reported to have threatened his teachers with dire consequences for no apparent reasons. Soon thereafter, six high performing teachers were transferred at his instigation to other schools,” said a subordinate staff.
The staff said this brings to over ten staff members he has transferred within the one year he has headed the institution.
Other staffers at the school said Munyao has embarked on a deforestation exercise contrary to the law and the CS Education’s directive on the efficacy of learning under trees during this pandemic that has exposed learners to Covid-19.
“It should also concern the authorities that he has irregularly increased class enrolment to 61, thus exacerbating the risk of Covid-19 infections,” said another staff.
They also alleged that he has been charging up to Kshs.20,000.00 per child in the new fee increment which is not approved by the ministry of education.
Other residents alleged that Mbondo has turned the school into a cow and goat rearing shamba contrary to Nairobi City County bylaws on livestock keeping.
Parents and teachers have called on the Education ministry, the NMS, and Nairobi City County to intervene and save the school.
When reached, for comment, the Headteacher did not respond to our inquires on if the allegations are true or false.
In early July, another group of teachers and parents also complained about Munyao.
, “Maybe those saying so know better. They are better placed to tell you, “he told Hot News then.
