The Presbyterian Church of East Africa is mourning the death of outgoing Secretary General Reverend Peter Kania.
He died from Covid-19 on Sunday at a Nairobi hospital.
President Uhuru said the cleric was a gifted minister of the gospel and served the church with zeal and commitment.
“Death has robbed our nation of a dedicated evangelist and distinguished church administrator whose immense contribution to the development of the Christian faith in Kenya shall be dearly missed.” Uhuru said.
A Facebook user Becky Gathoni expressed her frustration on Sunday morning after she went to donate blood for the cleric only to be told he was dead.
“I woke up this morning and headed to Nairobi Hospital for your blood donation just to receive the unbelievable news that you are no more. My legs became weak, my mind went blank.” Said Becky Gathoni on facebook.
Reverend Kania was also the national patron of the Professional Criminologists Association of Kenya.
He died aged 54 and has left behind a widow and three children.
He will be buried on Thursday at the Church of the torch in Thogoto,Kikuyu subcounty.
