In a well-choreographed scheme, conmen operating online purporting to sell Roto tanks have swindled hundreds of unsuspecting Kenyans their hard earned cash.
The thugs, have come up with a facebook page dubbed Roto Moulders.
They purportedly sell water tanks.
The conmen have been using paybill number 222111and account number 028000047686 account name Roto Tank Kenya.
Initial investigations reveal the bank account was opened at Family Bank Kisumu.
Last week, the conmen enticed Kenyans by placing offers on their ghost products.
They claimed that the 5000 litre tank was going for shs 26,500, 8000 litre tank shs 42,000, 10,000 litre tank shs 48,000 and the 16, 000 litre tank shs 67,000.
Many Kenyans fell for the trick.
“I paid shs 48,000 for the 10,000 litre tank. The cash went to Roto Tank Moulders family bank account. This was on 4th April. However, when I followed up, I realized I had been conned after the tank was not delivered,” said a City resident who requested anonymity as the matter is under investigations.
The resident reported the matter to Buruburu Police station under OB NO 72/0504//024.
A follow up with the bank to recover the cash was futile.
A bank customer care identified as Josephine said the accounts had been flagged by the banks security.
However, it remains a puzzle how the money had been withdrawn from the bank even after several complaints.
Complainants now want the bank to come clean and clarify if indeed some of its staff are not being used us conduits in the con game.
