Parents who have their children at Upper Hill School in Nairobi have accused the school management of hiking school fees.
The parents claimed the school is stealing from them.
“Happy Easter festivities fellow parents. Kindly our class rep @+254 723………, please come to our rescue & help us understand this frequent fee increment,” read a message from one of the parents send to a class representative who represents them.
The parent said the 2nd term fee was increased by 10,000/ and 3rd term fee by 8,660/.
“The year 2020, I paid a total of 60,000/ for 1st & 2nd term but my son brought a fee demand note totaling. =34,000/ for 3rd term. This means that for the year 2020 parents are required to pay a whooping 94,000/ instead of the recommended 54,000/ this will translate to 40,000/ more than the recommended fee by the government,” complained a parent who requested anonymity.
On 16th March when schools closed, each student was told that he has a fee balance of shs 37, 333.
A letter from the Principal said no student will be accepted back without clearing the balance.
