Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has said that the Building Bridges Initiative “Reggae” train is unstoppable.
Raila said the BBI is aimed at uniting Kenyans and not dividing them along tribal lines.
Speaking during the Fourth BBI Forum at Kitui Stadium on Saturday, Raila said those who will be left out of the gravy train will have themselves to blame.
“The BBI train started the journey in Kisii. It made stop-overs in Kakamega, Mombasa and today it has stopped in Kitui, ” he said.
He added that the other destinations will include Meru, Narok, Nakuru, Garissa, Nyeri and eventually Nairobi.
Raila who sang “Nobody can stop reggae” hit to drive his point home, said former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka is with him in BBI.
He said that nothing can stop Kenyans from achieving the unity that has proved elusive for decades.
Council of Governors chairman Wycliffe Oparanya said all 47 counties in Kenya and Wiper party back BBI.
Oparanya urged all Kenyans to back the BBI document, which is the brainchild of President Uhuru Kenyatta and former PM Raila Odinga.
Cotu secretary General Francis Atwoli said his main interest in BBI is to protect the interest of workers.
He told the national government to clip the powers of the Salaries Remuneration Commission and allow the collective bargaining agreement between the employer and employee to negotiate on salaries without a go between.
Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati said they have given proposals as Governors to devolve the IEBC to allow election results of all seats announced at polling stations.
The “youngest Governor” on the block James Nyoro from Kiambu County said he is the first born of BBI and handshake, telling Kenyans that “nobody can stop reggae”.
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said BBI should not divide Kenyans but he wants to see a united Kenya.
He sent a passionate plea to President Uhuru to declare Mombasa a free port to create employment opportunities.
Musyoka appealed to President Kenyatta to declare desert locusts a national disaster.
