Several MPs from Siaya County have vowed to support Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol after efforts to impeach him failed.
Meeting under the auspice of the Alego caucus, the MPs both sitting and former said that they are fund raising to pay off the MCAs not to go after Oduol.
The MPs faulted the ODM party and Governor James Orengo for blackmailing Oduol.
“If they (MCAs) continue disturbing Oduol, we will also consider sponsoring their opponents to recall them,” said a former MP.
A day after the Senate overturned a decision by the MCAs to impeach him, they took their battle to the High Court in Siaya.
In a notice of motion filed by Ukwala MCA Peter Oduor, the Ward representative unanimously agreed that they should file a constitutional petition against Oduol.
In May 29th , 38 MCAs voted for Mr Oduol’s ouster against one.
On 26th June Oduol survived impeachment after 27 out of 43 senators voted to keep him in office.
Senators allied to President William Ruto openly supported Oduol while those allied to opposition leader Raila Odinga sought to have him impeached.
