Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced his plan to rehabilitate Joe Kadenge Stadium formerly known as City Stadium to International standards.
Speaking during the Kenya’s 60th Madaraka Day at Joe Kadenge stadium, the City Boss said he has set aside Kshs. 525 million in the 2023/2024 financial year budget to elevate the stadium to the International standards.
“City Stadium was renamed Joe Kadenge by the previous ward representatives in honor of our renowned late footballer. This stadium will be in the same rank as Nyayo and Kasarani stadium,” Sakaja said.
Sakaja was confident the projects will not stall as the case with other projects in the previous regimes faced by corruption.
The event was attended by members of Parliament, Senators and Nairobi members of County Assembly.
Thousands of Nairobians drawn from the 85 wards also graced the ceremony.
