Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been able to achieve what former City Fathers failed to achieve.
Sonko has been able to construct and commission the Gigiri Fire station after repossessing the land from a private developer.
Last week, the Ruaraka and Waithaka fire stations were opened and are up and running.
The Governor also announced the opening of the new Pumwani Maternity Hospital, Outpatient clinic.
While making the announcement on his social media accounts, Sonko said the hospital will serve the residents of Kamukunji.
Abdunnasir Bin Isaac, a neo- natal nurse based at the hospital said a total of 640 patients have visited the hospital since it opened its doors to the public.
“Come utilize the facility. This has brought health services closer to the people of Kamukunji, “he said.
He added that currently, the hospital is also carrying out cervical cancer screening and that in future, an EAR, NOSE AND THROAT (ENT) specialist will be posted there.
“We also look forward to offering dental and eye care services,” he said.
The Governor also announced the opening of two fire stations in the County.
Sonko said the Ruaraka fire station is up and running.
“Construction of a fire station at Waithaka in Dagoretti South. The station will have fully equipped fire engines, ambulances, boreholes and other facilities that will enable Nairobi City County Government to respond to disasters in a timely manner,” he said.
