Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has ordered the installation of bio-metric card readers across all county offices to ensure staff report to work on time.
The Governor said a bad trend of laziness has crept in among county staff, negatively affecting service delivery.
He said of late, staffs have developed a ‘kanjo’ mentality, reporting to work late and leave early, thus giving minimal service Nairobi residents.
“My administration will recognize, reward and promote staff who delivers on their targets, but has no room for lazy people who just want to use their county offices to conduct their personal businesses,” said Sonko.
He spoke at City Hall during the launch of the Huduma Namba registration for county staff.
Sonko said the Huduma Namba will enhance security at City Hall.
The number will complement the new staff badges that will be rolled out this year.
All county employees will be issued with the new badges, which will help security personnel identify county workers, clients and visitors.
“That is why the Public Service Management must fast-track the roll out of the new staff badges and urgently install bio-metric card readers across our offices,” he said.
He encouraged all City residents to register for the Huduma Namba.
