NMS Director General Mohamed Badi has taken possession of the official residence of the Nairobi Governor.
Speaking in Westlands on Wednesday, Badi said lands is a transferred function to the NMS.
He spoke a day after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko officially took over possession of the House that was once the official residence of the Mayor in Nairobi.
Badi said the plot belongs to NMS and is now sealed off by police.
“My Friend stop this nonsensical behavior of insulting me, why forcefully take the official Nairobi County Governor’s residence and ceremonial vehicle? We are not in competition, kindly let us focus on service delivery to the Great people of Nairobi. If you want to fight go to Somalia and fight with Alshabab and if you want to become the Governor wait for 2022 to vie,” Sonko told off Badi.
Sonko added that Badi should respect the rule of law as provided for in Article 187 (2) (b) which stipulates: Constitutional responsibility for the performance of the function or exercise of the power shall remain with the government to which it is assigned by the Fourth Schedule.
The posh house was the Nairobi mayor’s official residence and it’s supposed to be the Governor’s official residence.
The house has been at the center of controversy since 1983 when Mayor Nathan Kahara was evicted on orders of then local Government minister Moses Mudavadi.
The eviction was to pave way for former Minister Noah Katana Ngala to live in the house.
In October 2004, the Nairobi Mayor Dick Wathika wrote to the Ngala family demanding they vacate the house, or they be evicted.

In April 2012, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission officially handed over the residence to City Hall.
The house is located on Issac Gathanju Road in Lavington Estate.
The saga saw former City Mayor John Ndirangu also charged in court for adding the grabbing.
“Today, I have taken possession of the Governor’s official residence in Lavington, Nairobi. The residence was returned to the Nairobi County Government by the EACC following its recovery after it had been grabbed. In short, hapa ndipo all elected Nairobi Governors should sleep,” Sonko said.
