The construction of the James Gichuru Junction – Rironi road into a 6-lane dual carriageway is nearing completion.
Transport CS James Macharia said the main carriageway will be completed by May 2021.
He spoke while inspecting the project.
The CS said included in the project are 17.5km of collector roads and 38km of 4-lane service roads.
“The James Gichuru junction – Rironi road project is one of several initiatives to improve mobility on the Northern Corridor in and around Nairobi. Others are the Nairobi Expressway, expansion of the Athi River – Machakos turnoff road, and construction of 4 bypasses around Nairobi,” he said.
