Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has assured City residents that his administration is working round the clock to fix the hitches experienced in the new parking system.
The new system was introduced this week after JamboPay contract ended.
Speaking while demonstrating how to pay the parking services through the new USSD short code *235#, Sonko urged city motorists not to pay parking fee in cash since the new system is working efficiently.
“We are not collecting parking fees in cash, so I’m urging motorists to continue paying the fees through the new system,” Sonko said.
City Halls internal revenue collection is expected to see an increase in revenue collection.
Whereas it was not clear if City Hall was paying 1.5 percent or 4 percent to Jambo Pay which was collecting revenue, City Hall will incur minimal costs since there will be no intermediary.
Since there were two agreements that had been signed by the Kidero administration, the auditor general called on the cancellation of Jambo Pay contract.
