A section of ODM MCAs have said that they will not be party to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s impeachment.
Led by Hospital Ward MCA Patrick Musili, the reps said impeaching Sonko will not be helping Nairobi residents.
Musili called on MCAs who want to impeach Governor Mike Sonko to drop the idea.
“If we continue joking, the President may dissolve the County. We have to be careful,” he said.
He said the best way forward is to leave Governor Sonko alone to fight his battles in court or else if he is impeached, there will be another election in Nairobi.
The rep said this will affect business, education and slow down economic growth.
“The rain started beating us when Deputy Governor Polycap Igathe resigned in 2018. We should have exercised our oversight mandate then by replacing him,” he said.
Musili called on MCAs to reconcile with the Governor.
“The country is facing political unrest due to the BBI. Referendum and campaigns give less time for development. The impeachment is the least route one would choose,” he insisted.
