Former Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa’s Son, William Wamalwa Senior is dead.
According to a close family member, William Wamalwa succumbed to diabetes.
The family member asked the public to ignore social media posts “disparaging” the Wamalwa family and claiming that William died as a result of “alcoholism and drugs”.
“We are mourning our Son and it pains to read funny things in the media”he said.
The family said it will issue an official statement and other plans on Monday.
The late Vice President died in 2002 and left behind a large family and several dependents.
He was the Saboti MP.
His position was latter taken over by his brother Eugene Wamalwa who is now Devolution CS.
William is believed to be in his early 40’s.
His friends described him in several social media platforms as a charming and outgoing person.
Many leaders and residents from Western Kenya have started sending their condolences to the family.
