A police officer attached to Kiawambugu Police Station in Murang’a county, Kangema subcounty has been jailed for three weeks by a Thika court for disobeying a court order.
He failed to obey the court order contrary to section 101(7) of the children’s act.
Cosmus Gitonga Riungu, service number 56140 will be held at Thika GK prison until February 24.
He had appeared before a magistrate’s court number 3 on Wednesday, according to a police signal from Thika Police Station seen by Hot News.
A police officer at the court who sought anonymity since he is not authorized to address the press said Gitonga was arrogant in the court claiming he was not served with any orders despite his ex-wife’s lawyer producing evidence in court indicating Gitonga received the order.
Hot News independently established that Gitonga’s wife divorced him last year.
Efforts to get comments from the former wife were futile.
A neighbor to the former couple told Hot News that Gitonga and his son who is in his late 20s whom he sired with a woman he cohabited with have been threatening the ex-wife.
“There is a time Gitonga and the son jumped over the perimeter wall while his son was armed with a panga and ransacked the whole house looking for the stepmother. Luckily, she was out for work. Her children are traumatized.” Said the neighbor who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of intimidation.
