Several leaders from Siaya County have condemned the violence which occurred in Alego Usonga during the inauguration ceremony of Chief Risper Akoth.
Speaking to Hot News, a caucus Siaya Professional Association led by Ouma Owuor said the two leaders should be arrested and charged.
Chaos broke out after Alego/Usonga Parliamentary aspirant Nicholas Kut Ochogo was skipped and prevented from addressing the crowd.
When speeches were being made, the area MP Samuel Atandi after addressing guests and the locals, invited his Nyakach counterpart Johua Owuor Aduma to address the residents.
Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo was invited latter then after Siaya Senator James Orengo.
According to Media reports, When the Rarieda MP concluded his speech, he invited Orengo to make concluding remarks.
However, this did not augur well for the locals who demanded that Ochogo must also address them.
While speaking to the media, Ochogo said when the commotion started, he was forced to go to the podium to address the locals.
“The locals were demanding that I had to address them before the Senator spoke, so I went to the podium thinking that following the demands, the Senator would allow me to address the locals after the area MP ignored me”. he said.
” I didn’t even take a minute at the podium, the next thing a heard was a gunshot from behind, and everyone started to run for safety in all directions. We did not know what was happening. I ran to my car as others ran for safety wondering who had fired “he added.
Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo accused the aspirant of sponsoring violence.
Amollo said Atandi refused to give the microphone to Ochogo because he was his competitor.
