The Chief Conservator of Forests Julius Kamau was among Senior Government officials and Service Commanders participating in the ceremony where KFS celebrated the graduation of the Head of North Rift Conservancy Benjamin Kinyili from the National Defence College.
Kinyili undertook (NDC) Course 23-2020/21.
The event took place on Thursday and was graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
NDC was also awarded a Charter to be a fully-fledged University.
KFS ushered in the President to a ceremonial tree planting exercise, and he planted the Italian cypress (Cupressus sempervirens).
The graduating class comprised 55 Senior Military Officers and Senior Civil Servants drawn from Burundi, Malawi, Nepal, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Kenya.
The next NDC Course 24-2021/22 has attracted more interests globally, regionally, and internally to include more MDAs.
To date, over 10 KFS Senior level officers across the country have benefited through this program.
The program seeks to harness the vast national intellectual resources to address the core national requirements that promote the national security of Kenya and beyond while pursuing and protecting national interests to enhance national survival and defense.
The setting up of an NDU-K as an institution of national strategic importance is grounded in the Universities Act 2012.
The Universities Act 2012, 24 (1) (a) envisages the establishment of a specialized degree-awarding or research institution of strategic national importance.
NDU-K shall be seized with it, but not limited to matters of national security and defense in areas like cybercrime, international terrorism at both operational and strategic levels.
