The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has launched the construction of a 744 km road that will run from Isiolo through Mandera and link Kenya and Somalia.
The Project is dubbed the Horn of Africa Development project.
KenHA has partnered with the County Government of Isiolo, Meru Marsabit, Moyale, Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera.
The project is funded by the World Bank, Saudi Fund, African Development Bank (AfDB), Kuwait fund, Badea fund and OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) fund.
The 744KM road project starts from Isiolo heading North to the County of Mandera into Somalia.
The launch which took place last week, was graced by Transport PS Engineer Joseph Njoroge, alongside the PS. Interior Karanja Kibicho and other state agencies.
The National Land Commission (NLC), National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), FCDC, and ICT Authority.
Several Governors in the region attended the launch including Mohammed Abdi Kuti (Isiolo), Kiraitu Murungi (Meru), Mohamud Ali (Marsabit), Ahmed Ali Muktar (Wajir), and Ali Roba (Mandera).
