The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya Jackson Ole Sapit has asked the congregation to work hard and eat well.
On Monday, Sapit led eight Bishops to Busia County to launch a food security program that will ensure the congregation is well fed.
Sapit said the Church is partnering with Busia County to ensure the residents of Busia use their land well.
He was accompanied by Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi.
The church and county leadership toured the one acre demonstration farm at Busia Agricultural Training Centre.
The county has donated the land for use by the church’s 36-member Ebenezer Farm School.
The three-year demos will transform the lives of church members through improved production of food.
Ole Sapit said the House of Bishops will meet in Kisumu to scale up the program to other Dioceses.
Bishop Benjamin Magina of the Nambale Diocese said the Anglican Development Services will procure 150 cages to join other investors in fish cage farming in Lake Victoria.
Governor Ojaamong said his Government will partners with the ACK and other churches to empower church members to venture into agri-business.
He said his government has agricultural experts with more to be recruited soon.
He urged the Anglican Church to emulate the catholic and Salvation Army Churches which have mission hospitals, adding that his government will avail medicine and nurses to such facilities.
