Ampathplus has donated food to families affected by floods especially HIV/Aids patients in Bunyala Sub County, Busia County.
Health Chief Officer Isaac Omeri who received the consignment on behalf of the County Government of Busia commended AMPATHPlus for their support.
Omeri urged the beneficiaries to utilize the non-food items.
Busia County AMPATH Senior Technical officer Dr Florence Tebagaluka who represented the Chief of Party AMPATHPLUS Professor Sylvester Kimaiyo said the donation will go a long way in supplementing the County Government’s efforts towards supporting flood victims.
Busia County Director of Medical Services Janerose Ambuchi said:
“The merchandise will help improve the nutrition of HIV patients considering that food is the first drug that you take to make your body healthy,”
Items donated included 100 Bales of maize flour, 50 boxes of bar soap, 205 litres of cooking oil and 47 bags of rice.
Also present was Busia County Nutrition Coordinator Scholastica Nabade, Constance Were (County AIDS and STI Coordinator) and Sister Aquinatta who oversees Focal person of County Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV.
