A sacked University Lecturer from Catholic University, Dr Rosa Ko has written a protest letter to the DPP over a delayed criminal case.
Dr Rosa Ko, on Friday wrote to the DPP saying the criminal case has been constantly delayed by Samuel Nderitu Wakanyua a dean in the department of social sciences at the university in collusion with the police.
The Dean has been charged in court with beating up Dr Ko, his female colleague.
The two reportedly disagreed on the increased number of untrained instructors at the institution.
State Counsel Nancy Kerubo urged the court to issue summons to the officer in charge so that he appears in court in person and testifies.
All other witnesses have testified.
She said Wakanyua’s team, CUEA and Hardy Policy Station are colluding to defeat Justice.
“CUEA’s graduation ceremony is a key event here. Last year’s graduation ceremony was on October 19 and this year it will be on October 25. I was assaulted on October 3 and Mr. Wakanyua gave his testimony at Hardy Police Station on Oct. 9,” she said.
Dr Ko told the DPP that on October 17 last year, Wakanyua’s first bail bond expired but Hardy Police Station extended it after receiving a letter supposedly signed by CUEA’s DVC of Administration Stephen Ngari.
She said the letter alleged that Wakanyua is instrumental for CUEA’s 2018 graduation ceremony and that the University expected Wakanyua and her to settle the matter out of court.
“The existence of this letter was confirmed to OCDP Cunningham from Karen Police Station,” she said.
Dr Ko added that CUEA doesn’t have a DVC of Administration and Stephen Ngari is presumably the VC since the name is identical.
“So, it’s possible the VC posed as DVC of Administration to extend Wakanyua’s bail. This letter should be part of the police file at Hardy police but it’s no longer in the file. In total, Wakanyua’s bail bond was extended three times before he showed up for the plea hearing on October 31 2018,” she said.
Dr Ko told the DPP that It’s very possible that CUEA instigated the police file to not appear in court on Wednesday 25th 2019 since they want to avoid negative coverage ahead of the October graduation.
Dr. Ko is seeking an appointment directly with the DPP so that he can intervene and help ensure Justice is served.
