Aviation stakeholders have called on the Kenyan Government to use drones to fight Covid-19.
Speaking to Hot News during a teleconference, three MDs of different Aviation companies said that the Kenyan government should borrow a leaf from the Rwandan Government.
“In Rwanda, drones have been fitted with loudspeakers to ask people to stay at home.
Some are being used by the Rwandan Police to carry out surveillance on border points to monitor illegal entry,” said an MD who requested anonymity.
The leaders said that the Kenya Police has been using choppers to monitor traffic, boarder points and other areas yet Choppers are expensive.
“Choppers consume too much fuel. They are not efficient. Its time we thought of cheaper and efficient ways,” they said.
They called on KCAA Director General Captain Gilbert Kibe to “advice the Government accordingly,”.
A video of drones being used in Rwanda to fight Covid- 19 has gone viral.
Rwandan Police spokesman John Bosco Kabera is quoted in the Video saying the drones are also used for fumigation.
