Flavian Onyango from St Teresa Chakol Girls Primary School in Teso South is the second-best student in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams released on Monday.
She scored 439 marks out of a possible 500, one mark behind the top student in the country Michael Munyiri of Damacrest Academy in Thogoto.
It was celebrations galore at the school with head teacher Jesca Okochil leading the teachers in celebrating Flavian’s outstanding performance in the examination.
“Flavian who joined the school in standard one was always above average; she is set to join Alliance Girls High School,” an elated Ms Okochil said.
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong congratulated Flavian for putting Busia County in the national map.
The Governor said his government will offer support to vulnerable children who will excel in exams.
