Busia County has lost its Maendeleo ya Wanawake (MYWO) Secretary.
The death of Madam Grace Buluma has shocked women leaders from the county.
According to her friends and relatives, Buluma was taken to Pesi Hospital last Wednesday after feeling unwell.
They said she improved on Thursday whereby she was discharged late in the evening.
Unfortunately, the condition worsened at night and on Friday morning and she died.
Buluma was on 4th June elected a member of the County Engagement Forum that is aimed at preventing and countering violent extremism.
The forum is co-chaired by Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and County Commissioner Jacob Narengo.
Grace was also a Member of the EMBRACE women movement which is also going round the Country preaching peace, love and unity in support of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s big 4 Agendas.
There will be daily meetings both in Nairobi (Railway Club Annex) and at her Busia residence; a fundraising has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 18th, 2019 and on Wednesday in Busia.
The body will leave Tanaka Hospital mortuary on Thursday June 20th, 2019; the procession led by a band will head to Customs Yard before the body is returned to her residence.
The body will leave for her home in Mungatsi, Bukhayo East on Friday morning; the burial service will be held at Mungatsi Primary School on Saturday.
Busia County Women rep Florence Mutua who is an in -law to Grace is in charge of the EMBRACE Busia Chapter.
Speaking while presiding over a funds drive in aid of the completion of St Louis Akorete Catholic Church on Sunday, Mutua said Grace sacrificed her energy to unify all women in Busia County.
“ It’s very sad to lose a strong woman like Grace because she had volunteered to help women under the leadership of Martha Emojong; they had taken off very well before the cruel hand of death struck the women fraternity,” she said.
