The government will not include individuals DNA data while registering Kenyans in the yet to be launched (NIIMS) registration.
Deputy Head of Public Service Wanyama Musiambo has said.
He was speaking while launching the pilot exercise in three sub-locations in Busia County.
They included, Matayos Sub County, Sibanga in Nambale and Kakurikit in Teso North.
“There are false notions that the government will include DNA in the data. This is false and citizens should shun such prophets of doom,” he said.
He added that the exercise has also got nothing to do with 2022 elections or the number 666.
He said the Huduma Namba is vital in safeguarding the payments to senior citizens aged 70 years and above from fraudsters and the corrupt.
Wanyama said the exercise to be rolled out next month is aimed at enhancing national security for all citizens and to ensure government renders service to target persons.
He warned those who will not register during the 30-day exercise next month saying they will not access government services, adding that a person who gives false information will be prosecuted under section 129 (a) of the penal code.
Those eligible for registration are all Kenyan citizens and foreign nationals residing in Kenya. “The scope is from age six years and above. New-borns will be registered but their biometrics will not be captured,” h said.
Busia is among 15 counties and 40 sub locations where the pilot exercise that will run up to Friday is being conducted.
Others are Nyandarua, Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Wajir, Marsabit, Kisumu, Kisii, Uasin Gishu, Makueni, Embu, Tana River, Kilifi and Baringo.
Wanyama said requirements for registration include physical presence so that once biometrics (fingerprints) and facial features only-picture are taken.
Also needed are National Identity cards, passport, and foreign travel documents where applicable.
Those present included Busia County Commissioner Jacob Narengo, Police Commander John Nyoike, OCPD John Lekuta, DAPC Daniel Masaba, DCC Fredrick Ayieko and Sub County DCIO Samuel Agutu.
