The Family Bank Management blocked Kajiado East MP Peris Tobiko from addressing its 1,500 clients in Kitengela after she snubbed elected leaders at the high table.
Ms Tobiko sauntered into the corporate dinner at 7:40 PM when Head of Retail Banking Simon Ndung’u was giving a summary of products the bank was offering its clients.
She was ushered into the high table where elected leaders and Family Bank directors and top managers were sitting.
To the shock of the high table, she just sat and refused to shake anyone’s hands prompting murmurs from the highly corporate gathering.
At the high table, were Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, Nominated senator Judith Pareno, Family Bank Founder Titus Muya, Bank’s Chairman Wilfred Kiboro, Bank’s CEO Rebecca Mbithi, area MCAs Paul Matuyia ( Kitengela) and Francis Kaesha ( Oloosirkon Sholinke) and several county ministers.
The bank’s management strongly disapproved the snobbish move and consulted among themselves and decided not to allow her to address the gathering for showing “disrespect to other leaders”.
Mr Kiboro took it upon himself to control the programme.
In a breach of an earlier arranged protocol, an angry Kiboro addressed the gathering and passed the Microphone to Governor Lenku who was listed as the Chief Guest.
Mr Kiboro gave Governor Lenku instructions that he was just supposed to introduce the political leaders present who would stand and wave.
For the second time, MS Tobiko’ s snobbish character reared its ugly head again after she refused to stand up when the leaders were called upon.
It took loud murmurs from the guests at the front tables to force her to stand up and wave to the now agitated crowd.
After his address, Governor Lenku, more than half his Cabinet in tow, were showered with corporate gifts as Ms Tobiko was left on her table with no one attending to her and looking lost.
