Ford Kenya Trans Nzoia chapter has endorsed Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa for the party’s National Secretary General’s position.
Led by County chairman Ferdinand Wanyonyi, the officials said Wamalwa’s skills and wide experience in politics make him a good SG.
They said this is in order to improve the tainted image of the party.
The chapter made the endorsement during the delegates meeting at Kitale’s Engo Club.
“The Secretary General post needs a vibrant, fearless and selfless leader like Chris Wamalwa,” said area party organizing secretary Joseph Pepela.
The delegates said that the party’s topmost posts shouldn’t not come from one county as it has been in the past.
Both Party leaders Moses Wetangu’la and SG Eseli Simiyu come from neighboring Bungoma County.
Chris Wamalwa hails from Trans Nzoia County.
The officials said that Trans Nzoia County is the party’s stronghold and that it is high time the Secretary General hailed from the county.
Some of the delegates said Eseli will not be happy with the news.
They added that Eseli may read malice after being abandoned by Wanyonyi who he has always supported and helped secure the Ford Kenya nomination ticket to vie as MP Kwanza.
So far, the Kiminini MP is the only person who has shown interest to contest against Eseli.
Speaking to Hotnews,Wamalwa said he is happy for the endorsement and believes he will win against the Tongaren MP.
The party is expected to hold grassroots elections this month.
Eseli has been the party’s SG since 2009.
He took over during the shambolic elections that saw Moses Wetangu’la oust former Webuye MP Musikari Kombo.
