A youth movement in Trans Nzoia on Tuesday urged the Government to pay the youth who took part in Huduma number registration and Data entry exercises.
Under the Umbrella of Mutuku for Senate, the youth said they are worried their colleagues are yet to be paid for the services they rendered to the Government.
“The Government should not withhold the money. The youths sacrificed their time and resources to work” said a statement that was read by Stanley Siakilo and Edwin Bwanamo.
The group also asked the National Assembly to pass the conflict of interest bill to ensure that lawmakers only deal with the oversight role of projects at both the National and County Governments.
Joseph Masta, Silphados Ambongo,Simon Kairo,Emma Barasa and Aggrey Nalianya were present.
The youths asked the County Government of Trans Nzoia to pay contractors all the pending bills.
“The County Government should fast track the payment of all genuine tenders “said Siakilo.
They also unanimously endorsed Nickson Mutuku to vie for Trans Nzoia Senate seat in 2022.
Mutuku will be battling it out with Businessman Allan Chesang, who is also a darling of the youth.
Others who will be vying for the position are speaker Joshua Werunga, Beatrice Kitiabi, Peter Chemuigut among others.
The current Senator Michael Mbito is said to be eyeing the Saboti Parliamentary Seat.
Meanwhile, Trans Nzoia CEC for water and Natural resources has resigned.
Maurice Lokwaliwa, from the Turkana community was a representative of the minority in Governor Patrick Khaemba’s Cabinet.
The reasons for his resignation are not yet known.
When reached for comment, he said he has simply taken a break.
“I have just taken a break” Lokwaliwa said.
The CEC joined Governor Khaemba’s Government in 2013 and has been given credit by both members of the public and Government institutions as one of the best.
Others who are doing well are Public service CEC Susan Nelima and her chief officer Robert Masinde.
