A Kitale mother who lives with disability and her son are happy after the son received a four-year scholarship from Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba.
Jane Awinja, who lives with blindness and hails from Kitale Ndogo in Kwanza constituency has been camping in Kitale town for the past two weeks in her quest to seek assistance.
She pleaded with well-wishers to help her son get admission to Matisi Day Secondary school.
The plight of her son Charles Asikoye got the attention of the Governor after it was aired on radio Simba-a local radio station.
The development also comes after social media was awash with criticism to Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi.
The Kwanza MP was criticized for only buying a shs 150 shirt for the boy.
“What is being said is true, the MP gave us sh.150 which he told me to go and buy him a shirt for uniform” Awinja said.
Addressing the media in his Kitale office on Thursday, Khaemba asked the Ministry of Education to curb the increasing costs of other requirements for form one admissions.
He regretted that the costs of the materials have surpassed school fees thrice and called on an immediate intervention.
Asikoye promised to work hard so that he can become a Medical doctor.
The boy said he wants to help his family get out of poverty.
