Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko yesterday facilitated travel tickets for Kenyans stranded in China.
This follows the global lockdown and xenophobic attacks that broke out largely targeting Africans because of Covid-19 pandemic.
Sonko who was last year recognized as the ambassador of good deeds in Kenya also paid for their quarantine fees in a quality restaurant for 14 days.
“I’m delighted to report that a team of 10 Kenyans including a one-year old minor are already airborne to Nairobi. Upon arrival, they will undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine,” he said.
He appealed to Kenyans to set aside political differences and support each other to overcome the dreadful Covid-19 pandemic.
Sylvia Mungai who was among the ten airlifted from China said they were suffering.
She thanked Sonko for the help.
Antony Njoroge Gitau who was also evacuated from China said he was happy to be back to Kenya having passed through hardships in China after the pandemic hit the globe.
