The County government of Busia has installed a state-of-the-art CT scan at the Busia County Referral Hospital (BCRH).
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong will launch the ultra-modern scanner by the end of the month after the Radio Safety Assessment and training of staff to handle the equipment.
County Radiologist Dr Namudala Emukule said the modern CT scan will diagnose not just cancer, but other complicated diseases.
He added that the machine will be in handy during emergency surgery especially victims of road accidents.
“The CT scan has the capacity to share images remotely without the patients suffering from non-communicable diseases travelling there,” he said.
Dr Namudala said the modern machine will also help curb referrals to other counties including Bungoma, Kakamega, Kisumu and Eldoret, which have been a common phenomenon.
He said referrals are expensive.
The commissioning of the new modern machine will help lower the cost of treatment.
