Hundreds of motorists were on Friday night stranded at Ntulele area after Maasai herdsmen blocked the Narok -Mahiu Mahiu road.
The road was blocked from 7pm until 11pm.
This is after a truck ran over 65 shoats (goats and sheep).
Those stranded were coming from Narok and heading there.
An area resident who spoke to Hot News said the locals were angry after their animals were killed.
Other residents said Police were unable to mediate between the truck crew and herdsmen.
“The Maasai farmers demanded a total of shs 425,000 before they open the road. They said each goat and sheep should be valued at sh 6,500. The headers said they had lost the best breed of their stock” a resident who requested anonymity said.
Those held in the traffic said it took the intervention of the area MP, Narok South Constituency Korei Ole Lemein and other leaders to resolve the issue.
“The truck owners had to come. We are not sure if they paid the money in cash,” said Gilbert Kiplangat a motorist.
