Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa has accepted that he came from a humble background and that he previously owned “a tenth of an acre” piece of land.
He was narrating his background while addressing teachers and parents of Namanda Secondary school after opening a new school building to give hope to the students from humble backgrounds.
Two weeks ago, Rift valley regional commissioner George Natembeya told Wamalwa to stop bragging and yet it is wananchi who helped him through voting him as an MP.
Natembeya said Wamalwa had nothing apart from a tenth of an acre.
“It is true I am a ‘point moja’ person but because of the power of prayer, I am a member of parliament today” said Wamalwa.
He said hard work and prayers are key to success.
He even narrated how a university girl he approached to be his girlfriend put him off because of his “low class”.
Wamalwa said because of his determination- today the girl is his wife.
The legislature said those looking down upon him in his bid to succeed Governor Patrick Khaemba will be surprised to learn that he will be Governor.
Wamalwa will be battling it out with Natembeya, DP aides Kakai Bisau and Abraham Sing’oei,Julia Kichweng,Moses Khaoya among others.
