Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has said he will not endorse any candidate for the Busia Gubernatorial seat.
Speaking after a church service on Sunday, Ojaamong told the congregation that he will instead provide a conducive environment for all aspirants in 2022.
Ojaamong won’t run for Governor after serving the constitutional two terms.
He was speaking to the congregation at Grace Revival Church; Namalo in Bunyala North Ward.
He said the field is open for anyone willing to contest.
“Declare your interest through various projects you are undertaking in the county instead of using every available opportunity to vilify your opponents; Busia is a cosmopolitan county where anybody can contest,”
“The field is open for any one from any community; what you need to do is to sell your manifesto and leave voters to decide,” he said.
Governor Ojaamong said he will soon convene a meeting between Members of Parliament and the County Government on projects undertaken by the County or development partners.
“As a government our duty is to serve residents diligently; where MPs feel the county is undertaking projects that they also intend to do like Rural Electrification or roads, we shall agree on the best solution possible, like diverting such resources elsewhere,” he said.
