The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced the closure of Wilson airport on Saturday to pave way for the KDF airshow.
“Please not that due to the upcoming Kenya Defense Forces Museum Airshow Festival, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority –KCAA has issued a temporary airspace closure notice affecting flights arriving and departing from Wilson Airport this Saturday, 28th May 2022 between 7 am and 2pm,” KAA tweeted.
KAA said passengers scheduled to travel on Saturday through Wilson Airport are advised to check with their respective airlines for flight status updates.
On Monday, the Kenya Defence Forces in conjunction with Aero Club announced it will hold an exciting Museum Air Show Festival this Saturday.
The 28th May event will take place at Uhuru Gardens along Lang’ata Road in Nairobi.
The Air Show, led by Kenya Air Force, will boast displays of both military and civilian aerobatic capabilities aimed at engaging and entertaining the public.
“You are all invited to witness this spectacular show of scintillating aerobatics by Kenya Air Force jets and extreme maneuvers by a variety of helicopters in their inventory. The Kenya Wildlife Services will also display anti-poaching drills,” read a statement from KDF.
Other participants will include: Phoenix Aviation Cessna Sovereign, Kenya Airways Embraer 190 fly-past, Farmland Aviation firefighting display and aerobatics by Mark Hensman from South Africa among others.
The airshow will be held at the magnificent Uhuru Gardens and Gates shall be open from 0800am.
