MCAs allied to Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku last night resolved to remove Speaker Johnson Osoi from office.
The MCAs claim Osoi has been “going to bed” with rivals of the governor and that he is a “dallying of a controversial multinational”.
The secret kamukunji meeting at the Governor’s residence that started at 3:30 PM and went late into the night arrived at the decision to remove Mr Osoi and his Deputy Joseph Masiaya.
30 MCAs out of the 41 in the Assembly converged at the kamukunji after the Speaker’s engineered removal of Majority leader Julius Moipai flopped.
Mr Osoi and a team of rebel Jubilee MCAs had earlier plotted to oust Moipai, the Imbirikani/Eselenkei MCA, and a Lenku diehard.
Governor Lenku ripped the lid open on the plot against Moipai in Kimana, Kajiado South, over the weekend.
Speaker Osoi immediately refuted the claims. “No motion to remove Moipai has been tabled, ” the Speaker told the media on Tuesday.
Osoi fall out with the Lenku brigade arose from the impotent attempt to remove Moipai as well as illegally forming an ad hoc committee to collect views on a “Rain Water Harvesting Bill” by passing the sectorial committee on water headed by Nkaimurrunya MCA James Waichanguru, a Lenku ally.
The bill is the brainchild of nominated MCA Onesmus Ngogoyo, a Lenku ally turned foe.
Ngogoyo is leading a team of rebel Jubilee MCAs that include Justus Ngossor ( Ewuaso Kedong), Moses Saoyo (Keekonyokie), Mwathi Pere ( Rongai) and Njogu Kimemia (Oloolua).
Incidentally, the rebel Jubilee MCAs have been quickly replaced in the Lenku camp by opposition MCAs who said they had embraced the handshake and vowed to support the Lenku administration.
Among the NASA MCAs who joined the Lenku team and attended the Kamukunji at the Governor’s residence are Samuel Teum ( Ildamat,Wiper), Daniel Naikuni ( Purko, ODM),Peter Tirishe (Mosiro,ODM), Dickson Nkaloyo ( Matapato North, ODM), Joshua Oluwuasa ( Kaputei North, Wiper), Paul Matuyia ( Kitengela, ODM), and Amos Peshut( Imaroro,Wiper).
The cracks at the Assembly were further widened by the Speaker’s dalliance with Tata Chemicals Magadi Ltd and a group of politicians that have coalesced around former Kenya Airways Titus Naikuni and want to remove Lenku from office in 2022.
Governor Lenku and the multi- national where Naikuni is Vice Chairman have had a frosty relationship over unpaid land rates and unlevied water from Nkurruman springs.
The Naikuni political camp is said to be rooting for a PerisTobiko-Elijah Memusi ticket in 2022.
Mr Memusi is the Kajiado Central MP and has been joined by former Kajiado Senator Peter Mositet, gubernatorial loser Tarayia Ole Kores and ex- Nairobi Speaker Alex Magelo.
The politicians have promised Osoi backing for the Senate seat occupied by Philip Mpaayei of Keekonyokie ward.
