A storm is brewing in Kajiado North over the rejection of nominees to Cabinet positions from the Kikuyu Community.
The anger missiles are being fired at Speaker Justus Ngussur who the MCAs accuse of single handedly rejecting 2 nominees from Kajiado North despite MCAs from both sides of the house agreeing to pass the three names; two from the Kikuyu and another from the Maasai Community.
The frustration of the Kikuyus seems to come from the fact the two Kikuyus were rejected in a committee dominated by UDA Members, a party they overwhelming voted on August 9.
Governor Ole Lenku had nominated 2 Kikuyus from Kajiado North just like he did in 2017 when they overwhelmingly voted for him and Jubilee.
Those nominated from North were Former Nkaimurunya MCA James Waichanguru and Anne Njeri Wakaria.
A youthful lady from Gichagi in Ngong Ward.
The third nominee was Janet Sereu from Magadi Ward.
The Speaker is being accused of unilaterally edging the Kikuyus out for personal political gains.
He was also accused of receiving instructions from a County UDA politician to ensure Waichanguru,an ally of Ole Lenku doesn’t become a Minister.
Olkeri MCA Stephen Ngatho is also under scrutiny after the names were rejected yet he is the Majority Party and a key member of the committee.
Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo and Oloolua MCA Eli Gor and Mutiga Maina ( Nkaimurunya Ward) and Mbiriri Mwaura (Ngong Ward ) have gone in record and castigated the rejection of the three candidates without VALID REASONS…
The presence of other communities in the Cabinet was one of the reasons Ole Lenku has maintained support in Kajiado urban areas
It remains to be seen if the ministerial positions will still go back to Kajiado North.
