Kenya Power has been blamed for denying residents of Ongaroi area in Busia County power after failing to supply the County with a transformer.
The County Government of Busia paid Kenya Power 2 years ago but no transformer has been supplied.
However, the Power Company through Kennedy Barasa, cited lack of the specific transformer unit requested in the market.
It also said the delay is due to the ongoing restriction on importation caused by Covid-19 Pandemic.
He promised to deliver the transformer to the residents of Ongaroi within the shortest time possible once importation is allowed.
Barasa assured the residents of Ongaroi that the issue had caught the attention of Governor Sospeter Ojaamong.
He said he will do everything possible to expedite the installation process.
The transformer will see residents within the 600 meters radius from the transformer get connected to the power grid through the Last Mile Connectivity Project.
The same will apply to residents in Oruma and Okokoru villages in Chakol ward.
At least 460 residents will be connected to Power in the three villages, according to the acting Energy Director Eng. Mc Vivian Anyang.
