Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa allies have hinted that he will endorse Educationist Cosmas Nabungolo as his successor in 2022.
Nabungolo is the current St Peter’s Mumias Boys Principal after serving St Anthony’s Kitale in the same capacity for more than 10 years.
According to close allies, the two are planning several meetings which will see Wamalwa say “Nabungolo Tosha”
In 2017, Nabungolo vied for the same seat and lost to Bishop Julius Mbagaya in Jubilee nominations.
Prior to 2017 elections, Wamalwa shortly campaigned for Nabungolo for Trans Nzoia Governorship.
Nabungolo however supported Wamalwa to become the MP for Kiminini in 2013.
“Nabungolo sponsored Chris by offering him a number of cars and finances during 2013 campaigns. We are sure this time round, the MP will scratch Nabungolo’s back,” said a source who requested anonymity.
Wamalwa has declared he will be vying for Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat in 2022.
Nabungolo has been sponsoring needy students to access education, nurturing talents, and mentoring students.
He has been helping squatters own land.
The Educationist first tried his luck in politics in 2003 when he vied for Saboti parliamentary seat after the death of the former vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa.
He lost to Davis Nakitare.
He brags of connections and friends both locally and internationally.
If he vies for the seat, the Principal will battle it out with Bishop Julius Mbagaya,Martin Walubuka,Peter Kusimba, Kiminini MCA David Kisaka among others.
Mbagaya has been a close competitor of Chris Wamalwa and emerged second in the race both in 2013 and 2017 elections.
