Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Kahmba has ordered the Kitale market to close on Saturday so that the entire town is disinfected to prevent spread of Covid-19.
Addressing the media on Friday, he said Health workers will disinfect the Town on Saturday.
He asked residents to corporate.
The Governor said he has waived morgue fees to enable family members collect the bodies and bury their loved ones immediately.
“I have waived all mortuary bills, therefore family members of any deceased whose body is in mortuary should immediately transport it for burial “said Khaemba.
He said only fifteen family members should attend any burial.
Area county commissioner Sam Ojwang said all assistant chiefs will be required to attend all burials to ensure only fifteen members of the family attend the funerals.
“The preaching should be very short and there is no cooking and eating at funerals “said Ojwang.
He said security officers have intensified patrols to ensure those who take advantage of robbing people their property are dealt with.
