A family in Birunda farm,Nabiswa in Kiminini constituency is seeking justice after two of its members were injured by locals under the influence of area MCA Martin Jamanur.
Family spokesperson Derik Wafula said his parents were beaten up by villagers led by the MCAs PA for declining to have a high mast build in their farm.
Derick said his mother Gladys Wafula and Benjamin Wafula(Dad) were injured by locals after they resisted invasion of their farm.
It is alleged the locals who were led by Isaac Okware, the PA to Jamanur
“Without contacting the family, they cut down trees, destroyed the fence and maize plantation so that they erect high mast light for the community,” said a villager who sought anonymity.
The villager said Gladys Wafula heard the noise from the power saw where her trees were being cut.
When she went o check, she was told to “shut up”.
Her son Derick said two police officers who had been hired by the MCA to man the process told her that she should not question the government and that they would leave her with the mob.
She was later beaten up by the mob.
“As a family, we are asking those behind this to be arrested, compensate us following the loss and meet the hospital bills to treat my mother. My mum serious injuries. She was mistreated. The MCA should be arrested to to explain more on what he knows about it” Derick told Hot News.
In a video circulating on social media, Gladys is seen being roughed up by more than ten men and the family wonders why the suspects were were still walking Scot free.
The family reported the matter at the Kiungani police post under the Occurrence Book Number 12/6/7/2020.
Hot News contacted Jamanur on phone, but he did not respond.
The family is now living under fear saying the MCA used his position to compromise the police and the locals.
The family has also appealed to area County Commissioner Sam Ojwang and MP Chris Wamalwa to intervene to ensure justice prevails.
